Of the five types of leadership style identified by the
indicator, participants saw themselves most frequently as being strategists or
encouragers. Around a third saw themselves as being pioneers, whilst fewer than 1 in 5
identified themselves as being managers or team leaders.
The sex of the leader does make a difference. Female leaders are much more
likely to have the encourager leadership style than men, much less likely to have a
pioneer leadership style and score broadly similarly on strategist, manager and team
leader
Church Leaders are much more likely to be pioneers than Lay
church members, slightly more likely to be encourager leaders than lay church members. On
the other hand, Lay Christians are much more likely to be strategists than church leaders,
and are slightly more likely to be team leaders. Those who are secular leaders are more
likely to be managers and strategists (focusing on the how) and team leaders, than
encouragers or pioneers.
