Surveys
have shown that over 50% of companies have not yet got their computer systems ready for
the year 2000. What proportion of churches are ready is not known. However, it is clear
that we will struggle to make our voice heard amidst the competing voices of computer
chaos, celebration and major media events. We need :
Creative and captivating
events and projects
Great PR campaigns to catch
the world's attention
Excellent project management
giving superb execution. On this page we focus
on the first of these points by offering a list of suggestions below. You can
contribute to this list, and help us understand the church's readiness by completing the
survey on the right. |

Many of
these ideas would work best when all the churches in a locality got together to put on an
event, or undertake a project that might be too large or too daunting for any one church
to undertake. The idea that you choose should reflect the way that your church wants
to mark the Millennium - as a time of celebration, or for encouraging re-commitment to
God, or for evangelism and outreach, or whatever. There are several national and
international projects you can link with as part of your Millennium plans.
|
Celebrating
the event with a street party in every neighbourhood.
|
Giving every home in your locality a copy of the New Testament, a
Gospel or video. |
Taking part in the global March for Jesus at Pentecost 2000 |

|
A major open air celebration at your local sports ground. |
A new ecumenical pledge to cooperate more closely in the new
Millennium. |
Giving a candle and resolution to each home (The New Start project) |
Taking
your Christmas celebration out onto the streets either in 1999 or 2000. |
Raising
funds for a new community project for the youth, or homeless or old people etc. |

|
Inviting every child in your area to a Jesus Birthday party. |
